Welcome to Modern, Christian, Woman! My name is Stephanie. I am a Christian wife and stay at home mother of 5. My sweet husband and I are a modern-day Brady Bunch. He had two, I had two and together we have one! There can be any number of children at our house at any given time! Life at our house can be crazy, but wonderful even so.
I am passionate about cooking from scratch, reading, writing, and list-making (can you say OCD?!) I am also very interested in gardening, frugality and most things vintage. Although I have a degree in Culinary Arts, I am happiest at home fulfilling my role as help-meet and nurturer.
It is my hearts desire to become all that God wants me to be, living life with intention and purpose. I would love for you to join me as I chronicle my journey, and pray that you would be blessed in doing so!
Thank you so much for stopping by and I look forward to hearing from you! If you would like to contact me, please do so at modernchristianwoman@gmail.com

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord” Jeremiah 29: 11 – 13, NIV
I read this and wanted to comment on it too. I really love reading blogs written by stay at home wife and mothers, especially when they’re interested in the things I like. My man and I haven’t been able to get married yet, but our plan is for me to be a stay at home wife, and one day mom. It’s how I grew up. I absolutely love vintage things, and am obsessed with black and white movies and bygone eras. Especially the 1950s. I’m just a bit old fashioned I suppose. But, I read this and I thought, you might also like to check out my other blog. No pressure and I’m not trying to spam you.
Ciao Stephanie…
I am enjoying reading your blog. I wanted to thank you for checking mine out! I appreciate it very much. Lots of good memories from the 1950′s..There is nothing wrong with vintage! That is part of what I like so much about Italy…They do things the old fashioned way.
Thank you for stopping by also! I would very much love to visit Italy one day – so many foods to try and sights to see!
Loved the things you wrote in your “about” page. Since you’re a reader, do you have good book recommendations? Love reading your blog…
Thanks for stopping by – I really appreciate it! I love to read just about any type of cookbook (of course!) and I also just finished reading “A Confident Heart” by Renee Swope. Before that it was “Made to Crave” by Lysa TerKeurst. I also really enjoy Ted Dekker’s books. I’m really all over the place with the types of things I read! Glad you enjoyed my blog! Come back soon!
Hello Stephanie: Just wanted to thank you for visiting my blog “Delightful Local Repast” and liking my post
Your blog has some great recipes. I am a big fan of scratch cooking too…something I learned from my mother and aunts that I enjoy passing on to my children
Best, Rose
Thank you so much and thanks for stopping by!
Love your blog! Especially the wives prayer. So glad I found your blog. And it must be meant to be because I’m baking wings for the first time tonight. Jessica
Thank you! Please let me know how they turn out!
You have a blog full of great looking recipes. I’ve enjoyed looking through it and will be trying some of them out.
Thank you so much! I can’t wait to hear what you think!
I’m loving your blog as of NOW! It’s so many yummy recipes that I actually want to try. Never mind the fact that I can’t cook to save my life!
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and reading my post Stephanie!
God Bless,
Imani
Thank you for your kind words! Stop by again!
Why hello I am new to this blogging thing and am interested in those that deem my blogs worthy of a “like”. So to that I say thank you. I briefly read your about section and you and I sound similar except I only have my two babies. I look forward to sharing our stories. And again thank you for your interest in mine. I really have no clue as to what I am doing on this blog thing, but it is what it is.
Thank you for stopping by! I am new to blogging as well – but having so much fun! I’ve met some wonderful people, everyone has been so nice!
Stephanie, thank you for stopping by my blog, and the ‘likes’ you’ve been making on it. I relate to your mission to cook from scratch. Your family is lucky indeed. There are so many children out there who don’t really know what ‘real’ food is. It’s wonderful to install an appreciation for food in your children. I tried to do that with mine, and I think they’ve benefited from it. I’ll be following your blog, as it’s always good to be inspired by real home cooking!
Thank you for your kind words – I truly appreciate them! I agree, there are many children out there who have never had a real homecooked meal. I want my children to be able to feed themselves and their own children someday, without relying on a box or bag or take out. Plus, it gives them a tremendous feeling of accomplishment when they learn to make something new!
I agree with pantryslueth up above. Thanks for coming by my blog and hitting the like button. I read your home page and the about section. I absolutely love the Jeremiah verse. It’s refreshing to see people sharing their faith in all that they do. Thanks again and will be back soon to check out your recipes. Take care.
Thank you! That is my favorite verse – so many times in my life I have had to hang onto that promise, but God is faithful and He has never let me down!
Amen!
I SO love the concept of cooking from scratch. I have tried this. And I’ve found I belong in a slightly altered category. I do cooking BY scratch. I cook a little, scratch the side of my head, bite a few nails and throw in a Hail Mary. God only knows how we all pull through meal after meal.
LOL – Keep trying! I am sure they are great meals!
Hello Stephanie! Thank you for dropping by my blog and liking my post. I just browsed through your blog and I admire you for writing in faith. You are indeed a blessing to a lot of people for sharing your talent/skill that God has given you.
By the way, I also love that verse (Jeremiah 29:11-13). It always reminds me that God is faithful to us and that “He makes all things beautiful in His time” (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
Thank you for your sweet words! It has taken me a long time to realize that God’s timing is much better than my time – and to stop stressing because He will do what He set out to do in my life! Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate it!
Hi Stephanie! Thanks for stopping by my blog this morning and commenting! I just read a bit of your latest blog posts and I can already tell that we have a lot in common! (not just the name!!) I’ll be back to read more!

Please note, the award is completely optional and you do not have to accept.
Thank you so much! That is very sweet of you!
In this day and age sometimes it can feel difficult or even embarrassing to be so frank and honest about one’s faith. I unfortunately sometimes feel the need to downplay it in my own blog. Thank you for your confidence and example!
I appreciate your kind words and your honesty – and I completely agree, it is a hard step to take – but I believe God meets us wherever we are and will give us the strength to do all He has called us to do. There is a strange freedom in letting go of worrying what others may think, and it has taken me a long time to figure that out!
Hi Stephanie,
Thanks for stopping by my blog and liking my post! I can’t wait to try out some of your recipes.
Thanks! It’s nice to meet you!
Hi Stephanie! Thanks for checking out my blog, this is all so new to me and I still can’t figure out how people find it. Not too savvy! Lol. Thank you so much!
Hi Stephanie, I just noticed that your blog has a Facebook page. I have been thinking about starting one for one or both of my blogs, but I’m just not sure. Was it simple? Is it worth it? Are there any negative things about it? I have a Facebook account, I just don’t know if I want to start a page. It seems to be a bigger undertaking.
Hi! I’m still learning – it wasn’t that difficult, once set up it’s pretty easy to add stuff to it. The only thing I don’t like is the timeline view, but I think it’s because I’m not used to it. I wish I had more advice, but it’s still new to me also!
Thanks Stephanie. I think everyone hates timeline at first. I’ve mostly adjusted, but I’m still hating on parts of it.
Hi Stephanie,
Thank you for stopping by my blog and liking my post “this moment”. Glad you like what you see, have a great day!

Hi Stephanie,
God bless you. You will reap great rewards for being a stay at home mother. My wfie did so too for the first 16 years of our marriage. After that she went back to the big U and became a school teacher. Someday you too may re-enter the commercial culinary field, but for now you are doing God’s most important work, raising your children. There is nothing more important work for a mother.
Also thanks for for stopping by and liking my little “May” poem.
Thank you so much for your kind words – I really appreciate them! Children are a blessing and I wouldn’t trade a single moment with them! May God bless you.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog! I’ve been clicking around on your site; your interest and gifting in the culinary arts is impressive! Blessings, bloggy sister.
Except for the fact that you have a culinary degree & mine is English I’m pretty sure we could be twinkies! Oh, and except for I’m a 2% clutz, and I’m prone to burning (myself & my food)… Ok, maybe not as much Twinkie as we are both fruit; but u would be a beautiful watermelon & I’d be a kiwi trying to pass itself off as a watermelon.
do u think anyone will notice that I’m not a watermelon?
